Wedding Notes!

 Brides...Share your colors!

So Brides, you really need to let everyone and I mean everyone in on what color your wedding is going to be.  Most especially the mother of the groom!  I know you think you wonderful fiance is going to let her know something so simple, but not so.  Some grooms can be very color focused and know the difference between rose, tea rose and fuchsia. Sadly most do not! So if you want everyone to coordinate ( and I know you do) let your soon to be mother-in-law in on the color of the bridesmaids, flowers, the tuxes and so on.  Even more helpful can be to let her know what color you think not only looks fabulous on her but will look great with the wedding, will corrdinate with your mom and with pictures!

My reason for this first tidbit, was the MOG (mother of the groom) I had today.  Poor thing had no idea what color the wedding was, what color she should be wearing, what color the MOB was wearing!  In these types of cases we recommend a nice blender or neutral color.  That way she will look good standing next to anyone in pictures, and flowers will look great even in bright colors. My MOG came away with a beautiful soft sable color gown.  My thought though is just think what color she might have worn .... hmmm could have been scary!

So Brides, my tidbit is share those colors with everyone! Trust me it will make for a beautiful wedding!

Please feel free to send me questions and comments!

The Waist

What woman would not like a tiny waist in her wedding gown?  The general rule is that the waist is the smallest part of your torso.  Certain gowns can accentuate or create a smaller waist or can have the opposite effect.  Here are some helpful tips and pointers!

Short:
-Best gown choice for you to try is a gown that sits at the natural waistline!

Long:
-Try a dropped waist. A drop waist can sit on the hip and will help create or accent a smaller waist!

Small:
-You are a lucky girl! You can wear just about any kind of waist line!  Even an Empire waist line can look great!

-Try adding a beaded belt or sash to bring attention to your small waist.

Average:
-You can wear almost any style!  Look for a style that will bring all the elements together.  A dress that will balance out your bust, waist, and hips!

Thick:
- Ruching or pleating is a great go to!  Especially if the ruching or pleating is asymmetrical.  This pulls the eye and creates a smaller waist.

-An A-line gown that balances your Shoulders and your Hips will help pull the waist in.

-Adding a sash or beaded belt can help the waist appear smaller.

-Try a gown that has a corset or lace-up back.  This type of gown can be pulled tighter and to your body shape.  This also helps shape your waist, making it appear tinier.

-Avoid straight gowns, you have curves and we want your gown to accentuate those curves!

The Bust

Your bust is an important part of the gown.  Since its close to your face it should be a factor when deciding on the neckline of your gown.  Its important too that your bust be relatively equal to your hips in proportion.  Here are some quick tips for Small and Large bust lines.

Small Busts:

-Sweetheart necklines can add some curves to your bust.

-Try on a gown that has ruching or embellishments across the bust to help accent a smaller bust line.

-Vertical pleating or ruching can help add fullness to a small bust.

-Padded bra cups (our #1 pick) can help add to your bust line creating fullness and roundness, oh and give a little lift.

-With a small bust you can wear a plunging or V-neckline.

-Try wearing a Halter neckline to accentuate cleavage.

-A more fashion-forward option is the bikini top.  This is a neckline that has a knot in the middle with the option of a small spaghetti strap.

-An Empire waist can also help accentuate a smaller bust.

Larger Busts:

-A slight dip in a bust line of the gown can soften a larger bust line. (if you gown does not have this dip, you have it adjusted in alterations)

-An A-line is great for balancing out a larger bust and a hip line.

-Sometimes more coverage is needed, a tip-of-the-shoulder neckline can do that.

-A big NO-NO can be a straight across neckline.  This can make your bust look bigger and make your shoulders appear broader.

-Try and Avoid Halter necklines.

-Deep sweethearts may not be a good choice, they can make your bust look too round and show too much cleavage.

-Be careful with sheath gowns, they can give the illusion of you being top heavy.
