Be sure you know what to expect for your final wedding dress fitting

Finding the perfect wedding dress will be a highly emotional moment for you, as a bride-to-be. However, do not forget that you will most likely have to alter this dress to look and feel flawless on your body too!

What to expect from your final wedding dress fitting? What are the things you should know before attending it? We have some tips for you – so read on and find out more.

First and foremost, remind yourself to bring your wedding-day undergarments with you. The seamstress needs to have an accurate view of how your body will look like on the Big day, so you should wear the same undergarments (and yes, they can make a huge difference, and even more so if you will wear a corset or any kind of shapewear).
Furthermore, if you plan on wearing a strapless wedding gown, please make sure the upper part is tight enough not to slip at all. In general, the wedding dress should feel snug, but it should still allow you to move around (and, of course, dance!).
In terms of length, the gown should allow you to move comfortably, without fear of slipping in any way. This might be a little more difficult with a floor-sweeping design, but even then, it is important to wear just the perfect length for your height.
Last, but definitely not least, remember to keep your eyes and your ears open and learn how to put on the dress, as well as how to bustle it. Be sure there’s someone else to do the same thing as well (e.g. your Maid of Honor, or the person who will help you dress on the Big Day).

Are you aware of what to wear underneath your wedding dress?

As a bride to be, you want to be the most gorgeous woman on Earth – and this is perfectly understandable, giving how important your wedding is to you. Of course, wearing a superb dress is all part of the plan – but do you actually know what to wear underneath that dress? We have some tips for you – so read on and find out more.

Strapless gowns. These are among the most popular types of wedding dresses out there – and we can definitely see why. Regardless of whether you are wearing a pretty sweetheart neckline or a dress that cuts across your chest, you should make sure you are well-supported underneath. If your chest is not particularly large, you can do this with some sewn-in pads. If you are larger in the upper area, though, you will have to either find a very well-supportive strapless bra, or wear a corset.
Plunging necklines or backs. Sexy and feminine, these gowns can add a special flair to your entire bridal look. Yet, it is very important to find undergarments that fit them. For a plunging neckline, you might have to opt for a low-cut bodysuit or bra (but do make sure it is low enough for your particular dress). For a backless design, you can wear an adhesive bra, or, if you are more well-endowed in that area, talk to your seamstress about adding some extra-support.
Halter tops and one-shoulder dresses. If you are wearing a beautiful halter top gown, remember to find a suitable convertible bra. If you are wearing a one-shoulder dress, a good strapless bra should do the trick for you.
Mermaid gowns. These dresses are stunning because they create curves in all those perfect places. To be sure your mermaid gown looks smooth and flawless on you, consider wearing shapewear underneath.

Choose the perfect wedding dress for your body type

Your wedding dress is more than important to you. Not only is this the attire you will wear on one of the biggest days of your life, but it is also a dress that will have to encompass your personality and unique sense of style.

How do you choose the perfect dress for your body type, though? Here are some tips you might want to consider:

Pear-shaped. If you are one of the lucky ladies with a small waist and a rounder bottom part, you will look splendid in an A-line gown. These dresses emphasize on the narrowness of your waist and create a sense of balance and beauty. Plus, they can be dressed up (with gorgeous embroidery and accessories), but they can be dressed down, for a more casual wedding too (by choosing a more informal fabric, for example).
Apple-shaped. Are you a stunning apple-shaped lady? The best dress for you will clinch at the narrowest point on your waistline, creating that gorgeous hourglass effect everyone’s aiming for. In general, though, it is advisable that you stay away from trumpet gowns – they will not flatter your body, making the waistline appear larger than it is.
Straight-lined. If you are straight-lined and slim, you will want to create a curvy effect. Generally speaking, look for dresses made from veil-like fabrics, focusing on the areas where you want to create the curves. For example, a ball-gown focusing on the smaller part of your waist and ends in a full-flowing skirt will look gorgeous on you!

Wedding Notes: Hints from Planners Part 1

The professional wedding planners exchange ideas and are an excellent resource to tap.  Here is some key ideas from Stephanie Johnson, ParkPlacePlanning.com
1. Establishing the budget and guest list can be two of the most difficult parts of planning, but the sooner you get those tasks handled the better.  Booking venues and vendors before you have your budget and guest count settled is just asking for unnecessary stress.
2. What makes details truly over-the-top is doing something just a little unique or unexpected.  I had one of my couples surprise guests with a gospel choir at the end of their ceremony.  Another couple set up a make-your-own champagne cocktail bar.  The secret to including these kinds of wow-worthy experience without blowing the budget is to pick just a single aspect and go all out with it.
3.  Set realistic DIY goals.  Pick one or two significant details that are relatively simple to execute, and plan a crafts day with friends and bridesmaids.

This is 4 part series.  Look for part 2 with more helpful hints from wedding planner Sarah Trotter from LastingImpressionsWeddings.com

Wedding Notes: Ideas From Brides

Here are some ideas from brides and grooms who were searching for ways to make their day more special, more unique, and more fun.

1.  Make a special keepsake of your wedding invitation by mailing one to yourself.  Don't open it.  Keep it in your wedding guest book and save if for future generations to open.

2.  Ask all relatives and friends to write a favorite recipe on the back of their response card.  Keep them in a special place throughout your married life.

3.  If you plan to "throw the garter" at the reception, wear two.  Throw one and keep one in your memory box.

Wedding Notes: Children and Weddings

If children are to be included in your wedding party-as ring bearers, flower girls, junior attendants or servers, they will add a special touch to the ceremony.  They will also find the reception fun and maybe, a bit intimidating.

Only you will know how involved you'd like the children to be in the reception itself, but if it will be a long one with a wedding dance, you may wish to consider a "mini" reception for the children of the wedding party and of guests.

Children of the wedding party may precede the bride and groom into the reception and if old enough, introduce the couple to the guests.  Some couples have outgoing junior attendants help to seat guests at the reception.

Consider having a separate bar set up at the reception for children.  Provide juice, water; punch or soda.  Many receptions also include a special menu for children with tried and true favorites.
For wedding celebrations with many children in attendance, most couples arrange for the children to spend some time at the reception, but then adjourn to a special children's reception where there may be movies, TV or special entertainment.  Hire sitters or young adults to supervise the room.  Before they leave the reception, arrange to have a couple of songs popular with the young so they may dance if they wish to before they leave.

Consider providing each child with a special lunch box or backpack filled with games, coloring books and toys to keep them occupied while their parents are at the reception.  The kids will have a better time AND so will their parents, if special arrangements have been made for a kid friendly reception.
